Marilee, a mother of two  has been a fitness instructor since 1995 and Personal Trainer since 1999. She is certified with AFAA, Mad Dog Spinning, The Physicalmind Institute and The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA). In 2009, Marilee finished  The Pilates Center of Boulder, CO, Masters Program. Marilee is an avid cyclist and has coached spinning and outdoor training to members of the University of Colorado cycling team. She has taught at many well-known health clubs in Chicago, IL and Boulder, CO.

Prior to a career change into Pilates, Marilee worked in the financial industry selling money management for large institutions. Pilates became a way of life for Marilee after trying to manage the aches and pains from her hobbies of cycling and running.

Marilee completed the Boston Marathon in 2009 after qualifying at the Green Bay Marathon in 2008 and is currently training for local triathlons.

Chris has been active in fitness her whole life but it took two trips to physical therapy for knee and hip injuries from running to bring her to the practice of Pilates.

A mother of two young children, Chris finds Pilates the best and most effective exercise program available for today's busy schedules. Chris is certified by The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and is fully certified as a mat and apparatus instructor through the Physicalmind Institute.

Angela C., B.S., AOBTA CP has over 10 years of experience in the fields of dance, bodywork, and mind-body fitness.  Angela began her study of Pilates 10 years ago while pursuing a Bachelors in Dance at Northwestern University.  Initially she used it to rehabilitate a dance injury but found it helpful in managing her structural scoliosis.  In 2006 she became certified to teach Pilates through the PhysicalMind institute and has enjoyed teaching clients whose goals range from fitness to rehabilitative. In addition to Pilates, Angela has practiced as a Shiatsu Therapist and Instructor since 2002. She is a graduate of Chicago's oldest established shiatsu center (Zen Shiatsu Chicago) and is recognized as a Certified Practitioner in Shiatsu by the AOBTA. Angela has taught beginning through advanced levels of Shiatsu at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and  Zen Shiatsu Chicago.  She has authored a beginning level Shiatsu video entitled The Art of Shiatsu.

Kristen came to Pilates in part to relieve the stress of being a full-time graduate student. After a year of group and private instruction, she not only saw results in her strength, posture and alignment, but she also discovered that the mind-body focus of Pilates perfectly complemented her academic work.

She currently teaches mat classes at Essence Pilates and is undergoing comprehensive reformer training through Balanced Body University.



 

 


Maggie B.

Maggie came to Pilates two years ago as a way to supplement her regular fitness routine.  She soon fell in love with Pilates, and made it a regular part of her weekly exercise regimen.  She began noticing differences in her mental and physical awareness leading to, among other things, improved flexibility and core strength.  After experiencing its many benefits, Maggie is excited about sharing her knowledge of Pilates with others. 

Maggie recently completed her mat certification through the Physical Mind Institute.  She is now undergoing equipment certification through Balanced Body University.  Maggie enjoys the many rewards of learning and teaching Pilates, while also being a full time Kindergarten teacher in Libertyville.

 



Lisa L .

Lisa is a certified yoga and pilates mat instructor.  She has studied yoga for 12 years and pilates for eight years.  She became a certified yoga teacher through Yogafit in 2004 and earned pilates mat certification through Power Pilates in 2003.  She is currently undergoing full pilates instructor certification through Balanced Body University and Essence Pilates.

With her personal experience of dealing with Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune issues, as well as her 27 years of professional experience as an audiologist dealing with hearing impairment, balance disorders and other neurological problems, Lisa brings a positive mental attitude and patience to her clients.  The power of positive thinking has brought healthy changes to her body and has taught her self love and patience. 

With clients, Lisa stresses proper physical and mental alignment to reduce injury amd promote inner strength, awareness, empowerment, acceptance and peace of mind.  She loves teaching all types of students and feels comfortable with seniors and those with back and other physical issues.
